| 1. | Parker, Tony & Allerton, Robert Courage of His Convictions, The U.K. Arrow Books. 1969 First Arrow Books Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good Minus. 5 Shillings orginal price. 192 pages, which includes a Glossary of British slang at the back of the book. Very tight binding. Medium beige paper. Front Cover: Two wrinkle/crease lines (3" each) are at the bottom, left, beside the spine, plus, the usual line crease by the spine, from book opening. Another cover stuck to this one and a piece of the surface is missing (1 1/4" x 2 1/3") at the middle. There's another area where the covers stuck, at the bottom edge of the book, and a piece of the cover is also missing there (1/2" high x 4" wide). Spine: One faint line crease, at the middle, from book opening, plus a rip, half-way down the spine. Back Cover: Two very small pieces are stuck to the right side, middle (1/8" long and 1/4" x 1/2"). A fingernail indent and a very small, 1/64" nick at the top edge. In General: Water touched along the top (extending inward 2"), right side (extending inward 1/2"), and the bottom (extending inward 1 1/2"), but while an outline can be seen, the paper is in good shape. The first 20 pages, at the beginning, have a bit of light pink, at the top edge, from the cover. This gradually disappears. Story: A professional criminal, who's now 77, if he's still alive. He claims he doesn't mind spending 1/3 of his life behind bars as long as he's free to live how he wants the rest of the time. Huh? Somehow, this doesn't quite make sense to me. The Pros here seem to have the same idea. What makes them so delusional? The title is a nice play on words. Price: 5.75 USD |
