Reading Copy. January, 1970. $.75 original price. 160 pages. Light beige paper. Very loose binding. Front Cover: 3 small, roughly 1/4" x 1/4" spots beside the left side, middle, where the surface of the cover has been removed. Mild edge wear to the edges. A name, in green, lightly stamped onto the back cover and transferred to the first page. Spine: One line crease from book opening, plus a bit of wrinkling. Edge wear along the sides and edges and a 1/4" tear at the bottom edge, left side, where it joins to the back cover. Back Cover: A straight line crease at the top edge, about 1/4" from the top, where another book lay on top of this one. A 1/8" piece is missing from the middle, right side, and a 1/4" piece from the bottom edge, middle. Mild edge wear at the bottom edge. In General: Back cover, inside, and the last 2 pages have mild ink bleed. Inside the front cover, back, and first 2 pages have mild ink bleed. Paper is mildly rolled. A scarce title. Mint Minus. $1.25 original price. 191 pages, plus book advrtising at the back of the book. Very tight binding. Light beige paper, just barely beginning to turn to medium beige at the edges (3/4"). Front Cover: A faint wrnkle/crease line beside the spine, from book opening. Very minor edge wear along the edges. No price mentioned, but you could mail the book to someone in the Armed Fortces for $.03 so it gives one a rough idea. Possibly $.15-$.20 was the original cost. January, 1944. 159 pages, plus, at the back of the book, book advertising and an exposé on who Ellery Queen really was. Red colouring to the edging. Very tight binding. Very light beige paper, almost white. Front Cover: Some wrinkle/creases and a bottom, right corner crease, but it's not too bad. Some edge wear along the right and bottom edges. Spine: Several wrinkle/crease lines from opening, plus general edge wear along the edges. Back Cover: Triangular wrinkle/crease at the bottom, left corner (about 1" inward), plus a bit of edge wear in a few spots on the bottom, right, and bottom, left edges. Back cover is a bit darkened from handling. In General: The top 2 1/2" along the spine was touched by water, extending into the book about 1/2", but it's not too bad.
