No date is mentioned. $.75 original price. 189 pages, plus book advertising at the back of the book. Tight binding, except between pages 168-169. Light beige paper. Front Cover: Some handling marks and edge wear along the right and bottom edges. Spine: Edge wear at the bottom, left side (11/4" long). Back Cover: A semi-circular piece, 1/2" x the cover width, sloping downwards to the middle of the cover, has surface paper missing where another cover stuck to it. A bit of light colour bleed on the right edge (1/2" wide, for most of the length of the cover). In General: Pages 160, plus, had the very tips of the pages stick together, which I loosened. The edges are roughened and only a couple of pages have minor damage (about 1/8"). Pages 168 and 169 are torn at the edges (about 1"each). The orange colouring is now faded and 1/2 of it is bleached along the right edge. The pages are a bit rippled along this side. A man is deported from Earth to a distant planet where he finds work in a pet store, dealing in exotic animals. He finds that he can communicate with them and... Beige paper. Front cover has a small, 1/4" piece of the surface missing at the middle, bottom edge. A triangular part-crease at the upper right corner, about 3/4" inward. Spine has a small bit of wear at the bottom edge and along the sides which join to the covers. Edge wear along the top and bottom edges of the back cover, more so along the bottom, beside the spine. Upper left corner has 2 creases in a triangular pattern, about 1/8" and 1/4" inward. A 3/4" wide water mark at the top, left corner, front cover side. A smaller, light stain at the back cover, top, spine side (about 1/4" x 1"). Some light ink run at the edges (Top, right edge, and side, for about 3/4", both ways). A small water stain on the bottom, right edge (1/8" x 1" long). The story is based on a Roman bit of History where a Legion was ordered to march until they came to the end of the world. No date is mentioned, but the Copyright is 1953. $.60 original price. 192 pages. Tight binding, but opens easily between pages 112-113. Orange colouring to the edges. Front Cover: A line crease beside the spine, from book opening and a small, 1/8" upturn at the bottom, right corner. A very small bit of edge wear, here-and-there, along the spine side, top, and bottom edges. Spine: A crease down the middle from book opening. Back Cover: 4 faint, verticle wrinkle/creases, from the middle of the cover, to the spine side, from opening the book. A small bit of edge wear, here-and-there. In General: From page 151, to the end, the paper has either a bottom, right corner in which it's slightly coarser, or else there are 4 very small puckers where water lightly touched. June, 1975. #152. $1.25 original price. 205 pages, plus book advertising at the back of the book. Very tight binding. Tan paper, mixed with light tan, depending on the paper stock used. A black-and-white illustration is opposite the title page. Back Cover: Acid from the paper is causing a slight colour change to the left edge, and the cover, itself, as it used to be a white cover and is now turning beigey. A bit spotted. | 5. | Norton, Andre Secret of the Lost Race U.S. Ace Book. 1959 First Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good. $.60 original price. 144 pages. Reasonably tight binding, but opens easily at page 60. Pale reddish colouring to the edging. Some spine wrinkles at the upper 1/3. A straight line crease beside the spine edge where the cover was opened. Back cover has two horizontal bends which extend from the spine and there's one vertical crease beside the spine. The shape looks as if a portion of another book had lain on top of this one, creating these lines. Page 128-129 has a small piece missing from the upper corner (about 3/4" in size). Water touched the upper edge and most of the reddish colouring is gone. The paper is slightly rolled at this top edge, extending inward for abour 3/4" and this extends along the right edge for about 2", in a V formation. If it wasn't for the water, the book would be listed as a Fine. Everyone's hunting a kid they think is dangerous for civilization but, as usual, he's not the one everyone should worry about. There's a light crease at the upper 2" of the right, front cover. Kade Whitehawk, of the book title, decides to free slaves from the tyrants who enslaved them, although he is not supposed to interfere in the affairs of other planets. Two wrinkle/crease lines, by the spine, from book opening. 4 fingernail marks and a couple of small crease lines, beside the right edge. Some minor edge wear along the edges and a bit of wear at the lower left corner edge tip. Spine: A wrinkle/crease line from book opening. Back Cover: A triangular crease at the upper left corner (extending inward 1/4") and a very small upturn at the lower left corner tip.
