July, 1953. $.25 original price. 241 pages, plus book advertising at the back of the book. Very tight copy, but loose between pages 8-9. Tan paper. Front Cover: A wrinkle/crease, extending vertically down the middle of the cover. The bottom, right corner has a triangular wrinkle/crease, extending inward 1/2", and this is carried into the book for the first 80 pages, before dying out. A small piece of the surface is missing (Top left, 1/4" triangular piece, and bottom, left, 1/4" x 1 1/14", vetically). A rip (1/2") along the bottom, and top, left edge. Minor edge wear along the edges. Spine: Edge wear along the edges and a small, 1/4" piece of the spine, at the top edge, is missing. Back Cover: A beige stain is at the bottom edge (1 1/2" x 3") and some of the yellow colour, and black print, is missing. In General: The inside of both covers is water rippled and 3-4 soft rolls extend into the book, but peter out after a few pages. The right paper edge has a small 1/4" rip, about 2/3 of the way up, but it stops after page 35. Story: This book is one of Huxley's earlier works, first appearing in 1923. It's his dissection of moral values in a (then) changing world. Victorian outlook to the newer, different outlook on life. Antic Hay is about discussion of ideas and outlooks. Price: 4.50 USD |
