Serpent-Wreathed Staff, The, Hobart, Alice Tisdale
1 Hobart, Alice Tisdale Serpent-Wreathed Staff, The
U.S. The Bobbs-Merrill Co., Inc. 1951 First Bobbs-Merrill Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good.
Beige Covers with blue print on the Spine. A small, worn and empty price sticker's at the bottom of the Spine. 313 pages. Light, near-white paper with about 1" of light beige at the edges. Nothing much.
In General: A previous Owner pasted to the inside of the Front Cover a portion they cut from the original Wrapper but they used (alas) yellow Scotch tape which, as usual, fell off and left its mark.
Story: Two Brothers, both Doctors. One becomes greedy for money. The other remains dedicated to Healing. I think it would be a good thing if governments chopped down to size these obscene payments they make to Doctors because quite a few of them don't really deserve it. They're supposed to be helping Humanity, not getting on the Bandwagon and gouging everyone. It's not Christian, guys. Shame on you. You know where you're going after you die. Yes, we have Doctors for everyone in Canada but a lot of them still try to gouge like their American Brethren. I don't understand this Culture of Greed. What happened to Moral Values?? 004720

It's Cheaper to Die, MIchelfelder, William
2 MIchelfelder, William It's Cheaper to Die
U.S. Monarch Books, Inc. #MB514. First Monarch Books Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good Plus.
September, 1961. $.35 is the original price. 141 pages plus book Advertising. Medium beige paper. Red colour on the edges.
Front Cover: Two faint creases are at the Spine side from book opening plus minor shelf wear's at the top and bottom edges.
Spine: A very faint crease's at the middle from book opening. I reglued a 1" tear at the bottom edge but it's nothing much.
Back Cover: Minor edge wear's at the top and bottom edges along with a couple of small scratches and indents.
Story: This is a book describing why drug prices are so high and the relationship Doctors have with Drug Companies. The book was written years ago but the information still applies and this has been going on since at least the 1300's when Chaucer first wrote a Satire about this kind of thing. Your Doctors and the Drug Companies have a cozy relationship which pays them very, very well while you, the Patient, scrapes by in life.
It's a pity that quite a few "Doctors" aren't in the Profession to help people but simply to feather their own nest. Doctors are supposed to work for the People, not just themselves. 004629
