San Francisco Earthquake, The, Thomas, Gordon/Witts, Max Morgan
1 Thomas, Gordon/Witts, Max Morgan San Francisco Earthquake, The
U.S. Stein and Day. 1971 #8128-1360-X. First Stein and Day Edition. Hard Cover with Wrapper. Fine Minus. About Fine. Ex - Library Copy. Cover: Schleifer, Bernard.
The book has Appendixes, a Bibliography, some pages of Thanks and an Index. $7.95 is the original price. Black Covers with a wine coloured Spine and bright gold print. 316 pages. White paper. Tight binding. Contains: Black and white photos. The right edge's untrimmed pages.
In General: The Wrapper's loosely pasted to the Covers and the top edge of the Spine's slightly worn. A receiving date and number are stamped at the top of the first page and the last page has a 4" tear which was unfortunately taped with the yelow type of reinforced Scotch tape. I'm rather surprised a Library would use that kind of tape even if it was reinforced stuff. The white Magic Mending's always superior to it.
Story: As the Title says. An interesting suggestion was made on the last page to explode a nuclear device to release the underground energy before another earthquake could take place although the Authors understand that like Fracking it would probably cause small 'quakes elsewhere. I don't know if they knew about Fracking when this book was printed. I think that another solution would be if Scientists were to discover anti gravity devices and once they discover them and how to use them build cities and roads slightly above the ground so earthquakes won't cause destruction. 004521
