Red Flannel Pyjamas, Albertus, Gregor
1 Albertus, Gregor Red Flannel Pyjamas
Canada. G. Frith. First Author's Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Mint.
December, 1961. $.50 is the original price. Yellow Covers. Tight binding. Light beige paper. 128 Pages. Signed by the Publisher who must be the person who used the false Identity as the Author. It all makes sense to me now.
In General: A few pages have corner creases as bookmarks.
Story: As the Front Cover description says. I'm surprised at who published the book because when I was younger I took a brush-up Course in Mathematics from him as he used to be a Teacher and School Trustee so I have his image in my head. He owned the Rooming House where he taught Courses in the basement room that was set up as a Classroom. Strange how life is. 004491

Red Flannel Pyjamas, Albertus, Gregor
2 Albertus, Gregor Red Flannel Pyjamas
Canada. G. Frith. No ID numbers. First Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good Plus.
December, 1961. $1.00 is the original price. 128 pages. Medium beige paper. Tight binding.
Covers: A double crease's at the top left of the Back Cover and top right of the Front Cover but they're nothing much.
In General: The first page has a small tear and a crease at the top right corner. The marks where the creases are continue into the book at either end for a few pages.
Story: I took a catch-up Course in Geometry when in High School from the Author but never knew at the time he wrote this book. It was possibly based on the people who rented from him as he had his Classroom in the basement and the Rooming House was the rest of the house. He was a nice person and very, very wise as he taught most of the High School Curriculum. Just goes to show you you never know who people really are. 004700

There Was a Time, Caldwell, Taylor
4 Caldwell, Taylor There Was a Time
U.S. Pyramid Books. #P2163. First Signet (NAL) Edition. Mass Market Paperback. About Very Good.
November, 1963. $.75 is the original price. 509 pages plus some Advertising. Light beige paper. Tight binding. Orange colour on the edges.
Front Cover: A long slanted corner crease's at the top and a couple of other handling marks are on the Cover.
Back Cover: Various handling marks are on the Cover and there's a small corner crease at the bottom left.
In General: Water touched the Spine side and left water channels in the back and front of the book for forty or so pages but the book's still flexible and the outside Spine shows no damage from it like it usually does when this sort of thing happens. I know I was surprised at this when I saw it as I figured I knew it all after going through thousands of books over the years.
Story: The usual thing about a person who's determined to make it big in the world and not allowing anything or anyone to deter him from his goal. But as they say, All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. 004620

No Help Wanted, Epp, Margaret
5 Epp, Margaret No Help Wanted
Moody Press. 1968 #34-201. First Moody Press Edition. Digest Size Paperback. Very Good Minus.
$.45 is the original price. 128 pages. Light beige paper. Tight binding.

Spine: Light edge wear's at the top end bottom.
Back Cover: Light creases are on the Cover from handling plus a booklength one's down the middle from book opening. Some scuffing.
In General: A Presentation's stamped at the top of the inside of the Front Cover and a previous Owner wrote a couple of numbers on the inside of the Back Cover.
Story: The book presents some kind of "message" for the Reader, so it says. The Presentation was from a Christian Evangelical Association so that might help in identifying the message. I believe that Moody Press is also a religious Publishing House. 004610

October, 1969. $.95 is the original price. 223 pages Light beige paper. Yellow colour on the edges but the bottom 3" of the right edge has some purple ink. It's probaby from a finger as it's " long and then sort of lightly dragged across until another bit (") which's also a slight bit smeared. I can't wipe it off so graded down the copy of the book.
Front Cover: Minor corner bend and the top right corner's been clipped.

Xaviera Goes Wild!, Hollander, Xaviera
9 Hollander, Xaviera Xaviera Goes Wild!
Canada. Warner Paperback Library. #0-446-59632-9. / 9780446596329 First Warner Paperback Lib. Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Poor to Fair. Reading Copy. Covers: Babovsky, H Case, Derek.
July, 1974. $1.75 is the original price. Tight binding. 365 pages plus advertising. Light beige paper slightly turning darker.
In General: The book has been well-read as there are indents, creases and a couple of tears at the bottom of the Spine.
Story: Xaviera writes about what she likes about several world cities and the men she met. I don't know if she's quite honest about why she had to leave Canada as I read a newspaper Article at the time which described why she was asked to leave Canada. What she did was a really stupid thing on her part.
I was amazed at the number of books she's Authored and as I've said before she has a nice writing style although it does tend to get boring to constantly be reading about sex. However, I'll place her alongside Hugh Heffner for opening up things about Sex instead of having it always as a Monty Python wink, wink, nudge, nudge sort of thing. She's had a very adventurous type of life and is now hopefully aging gracefully with her Husband and kids. She usually handled her life with grace. 004366

In General: A previous Owner cut out a 2" - wide piece at the top of the first page which possibly had a price or their name otherwise the book's Mint.
Story: A book Jackson wrote about her family's adventures in life. An intersting two pager's at the back of this book describing a haunting which I presume is from another Ballantine book and it sounds interesting. 004416

Last Exit to Brooklyn, Selby Jr., Hubert
15 Selby Jr., Hubert Last Exit to Brooklyn
Canada. Grove Press, Inc. 1965 #4663. First Grove Press Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good.
$1.25 is the original price. 311 pages plus Advertising. Medium beige paper. Tight binding. Red colour on the edges.
Front Cover: A couple of creases are at the middle and right edge plus a few handling marks but they're reasonable considering the age of the book.
Spine: A small tear's at the lower right edge and a few creases from manufacturing.
Back Cover: Several creases are at the upper half of the book.
In General: The back of both Covers and last few pages are slightly darker tan while the rest of the book's got tan at the edges, probably due to age as I don't see any evidence of water touching the book.
Story: Well written and down to earth dialogue with a Plot revolving around daily living, Strikes and Strike Breakers, etc. I'd probaby keep the book if I was still REALLY collecting because of the way it's written. Recommended. If you're someone who gets offended at coarse language then leave this book alone. 004553

All Quiet on the Russian Front, Stock, Kurt W.
16 Stock, Kurt W. All Quiet on the Russian Front
Canada. Pocket Books. #671-78630-X. Second Pocket Books Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Mint Minus.
June, 1973. $1.50 is the original price. 228 pages plus Advertising. Light beige paper, darker at the bottom 1". Tight binding. Red colour on the edges.
In General: About four scuff marks are at the top of the Front Cover and a slight indent's at the right edge from other pocket books pressing on this one from being packed in a box before I got to it.
Story: A German soldier's recounting of being captured by the Russians just before the end of the war and being shipped to work in Siberia. I browsed the book and it reads quite well.
However.....let us not forget that Germany started the war, Herr Stock, and its soldiers were very cruel to the people, especially the crazy SS s.o.b's who thought they were next to God and scared the hell even out of Germans. I regret what happened to everyone on both sides but it was tit for tat and revenge for German cruelty. While German soldiers were winning they acted like barbarians and showed no mercy to those they conquered in battle and shot many Canadian unarmed and surrendered soldiers. The Germans reaped what they had sowed. That is life. Do someone dirt and eventually it comes back on you. 004511
