Lane, Margaret Edgar Wallace The Biography of a Phenomenon
U.K. The Book Club. 1939 First Book CLub Edition. Hard Cover, with Wrapper. Good Minus. Water Touched. Wrapper: Poor. Water Touched.
Pinkish-red boards. 423 pages, with an Appendex and Index at the back of the book. Very tight binding. Light beige paper. Contains: Black-and-white photos.
In General: The book's Covers are colour lightened from water and have fabric lifting at the right edge and beside the Spine (Front Cover) and at the Spine (Back Cover). The Spine's O.K. as water never touched it.
The tops of the insides of the Front Cover, up to page 7, have light pink colour bleed at the top edges (of the pages) and along the outer edges (Cover). This extends inward 1/4", gradually reducing to 1/8". The inside of the Back Cover and End Paper at the back of the book are the only parts like this. The rest of the book's pages have a small bit of pink colour bleed at the top edge, extending inward 1/4"-1/8".
Black-and-white-photos: Most are in very good shape. A couple are a bit rippled, or have a small tear. Pages: Most, with the exception of the slight bit of colour bleed at the top edge, are in very good shape. The odd one has a small crease, but it's not much. The entire book's quite flexible as water touched the outside Covers, and only on the surface, apparently.
Wapper: A 3" piece is missing at the top edge, extending to the back flap. The inside of it has pinkish colour bleed from the book, of course. See: Cover Scan.
Story: As the Title says. The picture on the Wrap actually shows the length of the cigarette holder Wallace used as one of the interior photos is with him using it. An amazing thing for spearing people. 002554

Lane, Margaret Life with Ionides
U.K. New Engish Library. 1965 #1296. First Four Square Book Edition. Mass Market Paperback. About Good. Water Touched. August, 1965. 3 Shillings, 6 Pence is the original price. 158 pages, Very tight binding. Light beige paper.
Front Cover: A straight line indent at the top edge where another book pressed into this one (about 1/8-1/4" high). A curved, wrinkle/creased corner at the bottom, right (extending inward 3/4"). A 3" vertical area of small bits of cover surface missing, plus a drop of water which raised a portion of the cover surface (1/2" high x 1/4"+ wide). There's a very small bit of cover surface missing at the top, right corner (1/16") and some very light edge wear at the bottom edge.
Spine: A horizontal tear, close to the middle, which extends for a 1/2" into the Front Cover, at the same spot. It's nothing much, though.
Back Cover: A triangular wrinkle/creased corner is at the top, left (extending inward about 1/4"+). A few spots of water are at the top, right, and the cover's slightly rolled. There's a circular spot at the bottom edge, middle.
In General: The first 34 pages have the bottom edges tanned (1" high) and the opposite sides have some light pink colour bleed. There's a very old Book Store stamp on the first page and the pages, themselves, are gently rolled around the edges or at the middle, or have indications of this. One page has a triangular corner at the bottom, right, which was creased.
Story: Snake Man. Ionides was a Hunter and Game-Warden in Tanganyika, East Africa, until he decided to lead a more reclusive life and study snakes. The Author spent quite a bit of time with him, studying him, his life, and the people and country of Tanganyika. 002132
