Miller, Henry Air-Conditioned Nightmare, The
Canada. Avon Book Division. 1945 #V2038. First Avon Book Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Poor - Fair. Water Touched. $.75 is the original price. 255 pages, including a couple of pages of Addenda which were added to the back of the book. Mostly tight binding, but opens very easily at page 123, where it needs regluing as water has weakened the glue. Light medium beige paper, slightly darker at the edges (3/4").
Front Cover: Some pieces of cover are missing, due to another book sticking to this one. There's a crease beside the Spine, from book opening (1/4" away from the Spine edge).
Spine: 3 creases, from book opening, plus a bit of cover surface is missing.
Back Cover: Cover surface is missing around the outer edges (about 1-2" wide).
Story: The book's a collection of written impressions which Miller wrote about what he saw of the U.S. when he returned, in 1939. I believe the Title says it all. Miller is a Scholar, despite what other people might say. 002213

U.S. #GC705. $.95 is the original price. 1965 is the only stated Copyright date. 336 pages. Tight binding, but opens easily between pages 108-109 and 204-205. Light medium beige paper.
Front Cover: 1/4" triangular creases at both corners and some light edge wear at the edges.
Spine: 4 wrinkle/crease lines from book opening.
Back Cover: Edge wear, mostly at the bottom edge (for 3") beside the Spine side.
Story: A solitude in the midst of solitudes. Miller has a down-to-earth writing style. The few books of his I've glanced through usually contain things which happened to him. One Book Seller called Miller's books "filth" and said they should be burned. I seem to recall another fellow who ordered books be burned because they went against what he considered to be correct.
Everyone had a great time as they tossed onto the fire various Jewish books containing Philosophy, etc. It was only a short time later that they were having a great time doing the same thing to humans. Does burning a book mean that what is described automatically disappears? This old world of ours contains quite a few unpleasant things/people. Truth is Truth. 001515

This is the first U.S.complete, uncensored book version. $.95 is the original price. 352 pages. Tight binding. Medium beige paper.
Front Cover: Some triangular wrinkle/crease lines which extend from the Cover's mid-point to the bottom of the right corner.
Spine: Four wrinkle/crease lines where the book was opened.
Back Cover: 3-4 triangular wrinkle/creases at the bottom of the left corner plus a very small tear at the upper left and bottom of the right edge.
In General: The book has a slight upward tilt from how it was lying under other books. A few pages around page 266+, have a corner fold and impression from this. A few pages also have minor creasing. A very small bit of ink bleed is on the edges and Spine side of both Covers, but it's minor.
Story: Miller's Philosophy about Life. This is a well-written book, with many good ideas. 000606
