Editor: Stern, Philip Van Doren The Pocket Reader Canada. Pocket Books of Canada, Ltd. 1945 #108. 17th Pocket Books Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good Plus. 490 pages plus a short listing of Pocket Book Titles up to publication. Very tight binding but opens easily between pages 34-35. Dark red colour on the edges. Front Cover: A semi-creased corner at the top, right (extending inward about 1") plus a slight bend from book opening at the Spine side. Spine: Three creases from book opening as this is a thick book. Back Cover: A triangular wrinkle/creased corner at the bottom, left (extending inward ¼"). In General: Page 144 has a triangular corner crease where it was used as a book mark (extending inward 1"). Page 325 wasn't properly cut at the bottom edge although the extra length of paper is still intact. Pages 401+ have some wrinkling at the Spine side. It's possible that page 404 was where a roll of paper was glued/joined to another roll during manufacturing from the way it feels. Story: A collection of short stories by very good Authors. (I believe that Van Doren got his own start by being an extremely smart contestant on a quiz program many years ago, when T.V. was just starting up.) 001865 Price:
