Spine: In General: A name is written on the first page. The inside of both Covers, plus first pages have pink colour bleed along the outside edges of the book, starting at the middle (extending inward about ½") and continuing to the bottom. The tops also have a 1" - long x ½" - wide bit of colour bleed. Water left a sort of V at the bottom of the book with a light roll at the edges. Story: A detective novel which is set in the 19th Century Victorian era. 001954

Canada. #J2706. $.40 is the original price. 215 pages, plus some book advertising. Light beige paper. Tight binding, but opens easily between pages 150-151.
Front Cover: The usual Spine wrinkle/creases from book opening plus a slanted, full width wrinkle/crease (extending from the bottom, left, Spine side to the right edge). A couple of smaller ones are at the Spine, middle, and there are a couple of light rolls, also at the Spine side, middle.
Spine: Wrinkled from water and torn, but I reglued it.
Back Cover: A few very light rolls at the Spine side, but they're nothing much.
Story: A woman, seemingly guillotined many years ago is somehow alive and on a murdering spree. Or is she? The book was made into a movie. 003224

Carr, John Dickson It Walks by Night

October, 1944. No price is stated but $.25 is written at the top of the last page and this seems about correct for that year. 250 pages plus a listing of Pocket Books in print to date of publication, making for a good reference guide if you're collecting these editions. Very tight binding. Light tan paper, just barely beginning to turn a bit darker at the edges (¾"). Red colour on the edges.
Front Cover: A few light wrinkles from book opening are beside the Spine. An 1/8" tear is at the middle of the bottom edge and there's a partial triangular crease beside the bottom right edge. (It never creased, though.) There's a very small bit of edge wear at the top edge of the right corner.
Spine: A wrinkle/crease from book opening.
Back Cover: Some pale reddish colour bleed is at the Spine side and a 2" piece of Cover surface is just barely missing from the upper right side beside the Spine. The Cover's slightly off-center (about 1/16" at the top and ¼" at the left edge).
In General: The inside of the Covers and End papers are a nice red colour. Water touched the top edge (about 3") and the bottom edge (most of it) removing some of this colour. A light brownish water stain extends into the bottom (from 2", down to ¼"). The book's still flexible, though.
Story: A woman is about to be married when her husband-to-be is found decapitated. Before the murder there was talk of her insane first husband having escaped from the looney bin. So? 000897

Front Cover: A wrinkle/crease beside the Spine where the book was opened. A triangular wrinkle/crease is at the bottom of the right corner (extending inward ½"). Two other ½" wrinkle/creases are also along the bottom edge. Minor edge wear along the right and bottom edges.
Spine: Two wrinkle/crease lines from book opening. A ½" tear is beside the left Spine side plus there's a small bit of edge wear on the top edge.
Back Cover: Two triangular wrinkle/creases are at the bottom of the left corner (extending inward ¼" and ¾").
In General: The first 40 pages have a minor bump at the bottom of the right corner which becomes smaller going inward.
Story: Six new Sherlock Holmes stories which were written by Doyle's son, Adrian, and a further six stories which are in collaboration with Carr. 000734

Spine: 4 wrinkle/creases from book opening.
Back Cover: A 2½" curved wrinkle/crease and a second fingernail indent, both from book opening. There's a small water stain at the top right corner, beside the Spine (1" long x ½" - wide) but it's nothing serious.
In General: Page 183-184 wasn't bound into the book when it was manufactured. Luckily, I have a second copy so I'll see if I can copy if and will include the pages.
Story: 12 short stories in the Sherlock Holmes tradition. 001902
