2 Nierenberg, Gerard I./Calero, Henry H. Nijinsky
U.K. Victor Gollancz Ltd. 1933 Second Victor Gollancz Ltd. Edition. Hard Cover. V. Gd. Minus. Water Touched.
November, 1933. 416 pages. Light beige paper, slightly darker at the edges (¾" at the top and 1" at the right and bottom edges). Mostly tight binding. Contains: Many black-and-white photos of Nijinsky.
Front Cover: Has a ½" - wide green library binding tape around the edges.
Spine: Bright gold print at the top but dulled at the slightly - worn bottom edge. There's a 2" tear at the left side and a ¾" tear at the bottom of the right side. The top of the left side has a ¼" tear.
Back Cover: It also has green library taping at the edges. There are two small beige marks at the top at the middle of the binding.
In General: The Covers are a bit warped upward. It's a stitched binding and this holds everything together. The paper backing on the back of the Front Cover is a bit rolled in three places. Three pages have small light - brownish spots either at the top right edge or at the bottom left edge, but all are very small.
Some water touched the Spine where it joins to the Back Cover as there's a brownish triangular mark (2" wide) at the bottom edge which tapers away about half-way up the Spine. From Page 411, to the end of the book a few pages show where water touched as the paper texture's slightly different. The very last photo has a brownish mark at the top edge (½" - wide x 3" long).
Story: Nijinsky's Biography which was written by his wife. From what I've read about him he could jump and soar through the air as if levitating. His wife states that when descending from a leap he did it twice as slowly as when rising into the leap and no one could figure out how he did it. He was supposed to have had incredible leaps and made dancing ballet appear to be simple. Mind over matter, I guess. 001084
