Hall, A. Rupert/Hall, Marie Boas Brief History of Science, A Signet Science Library (NAL). 1964 #T2542. First Signet (NA) Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good. Water Touched. $.75 is the original price. 352 pages, which includes: Notes, Suggestiions for Further Reading and an Index, all at the back of the book. Light medium beige paper. Very tight binding. Red colour to the edging, with a couple of very small spots of water, here-and-there, but it's rather minor. Front Cover: There's a large, triangular wrinkle/creased corner at the top, right (extending inward, 2 1/2"), and a smaller one, 1/2" inward. The bottom, right corner, has 4 triangular wrinkle/creases (extending inward, 1/8", to 1"). Spine: Two light wrinkle/creases, from book opening, plus some fine wrinkles, indicating a bit of water touched here. Back Cover: A double, triangular creased corner is at the top, left (extending inward, 1/8", and the other is close to 1/2" inward). There's another 1" light crease at the right side, plus a couple of small fingernail indents, from book opening, and a 2" curved crease is at the top, left edge. There's a small, darkish streak at the top third of the Cover. In General: The large wrinkle/crease, mentioned as being on the Front Cover, caused a few pages to have a slight indent at the same spot. 5-6 pages have either a top, right corner fold, or a bottom, right folded corner. A couple of pages, not many, have beige water marks. Story: A fascinating account of Science origins and evolution, over the Centuries. In particular, the description of Herophilos, Erasistratos and Galen and their Medical discoveries are really very interesting. Galen was brilliant, I think. You've got to hand it to the Greeks for being such a smart bunch of people. And this was done in the Second and Third Centuries, B.C. I'm almost tempted to keep this book. 002531 Price:

Front Cover: A few small (1") creases are at the top, left corner (1" deep x 2 3/4" wide along the top edge). A triangular wrinkle/crease is at the top, right corner (extending inward 1/4"+). 4 minor creases are at the middle, right edge, but they're nothing much. Very slight bits of edge wear are along the bottom and right edges. Spine: 2 faint wrinkle/crease lines from book opening, plus some small wrinkling which indicates water touched the Spine edge. Back Cover: A 3" wide x 2 1/2" high pucker mark where water touched is a the bottom of the Cover. There's a slight beige water outline starting at page 161, but it gradually disappears as one goes toward the back of the book and only a slight difference in paper texture is evident after a while. There are also some small bits at the left edge, about the same width, but it's nothing much. There are a couple of small areas at the top, right corner, but, again, they're nothing much. In General: The photos have a water outline at the edges. Because of water touching the book it's slightly stiff to open. Story: As the Title says. Mann, Ida/Pirie, Antoinette Science of Seeing, The U.K. Pelican (Penguin) Books. 1946 #A157. First Pelican (Penguin) Ed. Mass Market Paperback. Very Good. U.K. Possibly $.32 was the original price as it's marked twice on the book and the original English price was 1 Shilling. (This was still when English money was worth something. World War 2 took a lot out of them.) 220 pages, plus book advertising at the back of the book. Very tight binding. Medium beige paper, slightly darker at the edges (1"). Contains: A colour spectrum photo at the beginning of the book and numerous illustrations elsewhere. Front Cover: Turning very slightly beige at the middle, Spine side. Some very slight edge wear at the bottom edge and a 1/4"corner crease at the bottom, right edge (extending inward for a few pages at the same spot). Spine: A 3/4" tear is at the bottom, right edge, plus there's a slight bit of edge wear at the top and about 3" of the top, right side. Ridpath, Ian Messages from the Stars U.K. Fontana/Collins Books. 1978 0006345964 / 9780006345961 First Fontana/Collins Books Edition. Mass Market Paperback. Good Plus. Water Touched. $2.95 is the original price (Canada). 220 pages, with a few References and book reviews at the back of the book. Tight binding, but opens easily between pages 120-121. Original light beige paper. Front Cover: 3-4 fine creases at the bottom third, Spine side, plus a couple of small areas where the surface was removed when separating another cover fom this one. (See: Scan). Spine: A couple of fine creases, down the middle, from book opening. Back Cover: A few squarish indents at the top third, as if from a telephone pad outline, plus a few light rolls at the Spine side, from water. In General: The book has a few rolls, from water, and the paper is somewahat coarse. Page 51 has a corner crease, from book marking, and this mark extends for a few pages, either way. From page 120-121, outward, we have some rippling in the interior, Spine side, which gradually disappears. Probably, this is how the water dried (as we perform our usual detective work on how water affects books.) Story: Some speculation as to how we'll receive information as to alien contacts and whether any have already been made. As usual, everyone's saying "no". Idiots. 002320 Price:
